Four years after it opened its doors to the public, the Barcelona Motorcycle Museum has just inaugurated the new permanent collection, under the name of: The motorcycle. Society, industry and competition. This unique collection allows visitors to discover all aspects and facets that make motorcycles a unique and special object. Less objecs in our daily life combine combine functionality and pleasure in such an accurate way.
In this new permanent exhibition at the Barcelona Motorcycle Museum, visitors can enjoy an interesting tour along 5 different areas (Society, Competition, Industry, the Catalan Motorbike and the Motorcycle linked to the film industry), grouping 40 motorcycles of both national and international brands, including several prototypes and unique models worldwide. From its beginning as a vehicle for elitist users until nowadays as a powerful tool to move around in the big cities, it has became the best option for personal mobility, not forgetting its recreational and sports aspects together with the importance of its industry, crucial in certain countries.
One of the most spectacular sections in this exhibition is dedicated to competition, where visitors can see, among others, a Harley-Davidson prototype from 1915, the 200cc Honda NSR of Sito Pons, world champion winner in 1989, or the BMW of Juan Porcar when riding the Dakar in 1983.
Regarding industry, mythical brands such as BSA, BMW, Indian, Royal Enfield or Honda cannot be missed out, as well as a representation of the Catalan Motorbike: Bultaco, Montesa, OSSA, Sanglas, Derbi, Rieju, etc.
The Museum keeps the temporary exhibition Bultaco, legendary motorcycles until February 28th, 2016. This is a tribute to one of the most charismatic brands in the motorcycle history, that has recently came back to the market with an innovative project consisting in an electric motorcycle.
